The famous poem "I Hear America Singing" appears near the beginning of Leaves of Grass and introduces one of the poet's major themes--the tremendous variety and individuality in American life. Whitman celebrates the American enterprise, in all its forms, through the varied carols, or songs, of men and women who take pride in their occupations.
Responses will vary in length, but the minimum response should be two sentences. Proper spelling, grammar and mechanics are crucial for a perfect score. Due: Friday, April 10 by 11:59 PM CST |
